You Are What You Eat
A Recipe for Prayer (Deliverance)

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Deliverance must be from within and without. Not only is the believer saved from outward evil
(Satan), but he must also be saved from inward evil (sin). The evil in this passage of scripture
represents sin inside and sin outside. Evil can be described as anything that apposes the will of
God. Deliverance is both an act and a process. It is an act because Jesus died one time for our
sins, and He is not dying over and over again. (Hebrews 10:12-14- 12  But this Man, after He had
offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,  13  from that time
waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.  14  For by one offering He has perfected forever
those who are being  [a] sanctified.). For those of us who believe, we have been delivered into
the Kingdom of God (John 6:40,47- 40  And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone
who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the
last day. 47  Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes  [a] in Me has everlasting life.”). We
have been sealed with the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption. Yet we are being delivered
daily from sin. This process is called progressive sanctification. Progressive sanctification is the
process by which the Holy Spirit conforms (transforms) us into the image of Jesus Christ, while
we are here on earth by grace (Romans 8:29- For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to
be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren).
It is done with our participation (yielding); through trials (suffering), the studying of God’s
Word, prayer, fellowship with the saints of God.

 Trials- 1 Peter 1:3-9 These trials work out the genuineness of our faith, just as fire does
when it tests gold. 1 Peter 4:12-14 Don’t think that the fiery trial is strange but rejoice.
Why? The glory of God rests upon you. Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of
this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed
in us. James 1:2-4 Consider it joy. We don’t get upset because the cake is in batter form.
We rejoice as it goes into the oven, knowing that what’s about to come out is far more
tastier than what went in. We must learn to love the process, knowing that the end is
perfection. Embrace and engage the trials sober.

 Partake in God’s Word- 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 1
Peter 2:1-3 As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow
thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. The Word of God matures
us completing the sanctification process. Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the
mouth of God. This goes back to our sermon series “You Are What You Eat.”

 Prayer (talk to God) Luke 18:1 Then He (Jesus) spoke a parable to them, that men
always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying (the widow and the unjust judge).
Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, seek, knock. Remember that this must be done with unwavering
faith, seeking God’s outcome and not our own selfish desires (James 1:5-8). Don’t ask
amiss (James 4:3) A closed mouth can’t get fed, nor can it be heard. Pray!
 Stay close to your brothers and sisters in Christ James 5:16 Confess your sins to one
another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent
prayer of a righteous man avails much. At times we’re missing out on healing because
we don’t take the time to be around one another. That’s called needless suffering. Jesus
said, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church,
and the of Hades shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). Christ died for the church
collectively. We are His body. We are made to function together and not apart from one
another. Let us have all things in common. Ecc. Tells us that two are better than one.
The Lord Jesus has delivered us, is delivering us, and will deliver us completely.

Remember the three P’s.

1. Positional Sanctification
2. Progressive Sanctification
3. Permanent Sanctification

And now we end the prayer:

For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever and ever.
God’s Kingdom is the entirety of that which is created by Him, seen and unseen. God rules His
Kingdom with divine sovereignty, and in complete agreement with the Son Jesus and Holy
Spirit. His Kingdom is forever expanding because it has no end.
All power has been given unto our Savior Jesus Christ, and because of that we can carry out our
purpose, which is to be a witness for Jesus and make disciples.
God’s glory is His presence. His presence is everywhere. Forever and ever.
